  3. Before recommending resources to the library, please search NCCU Catalog with the titles of the resources and confirm that the resources are not already a part of the NCCU library collection.

Q2. I would like to know how the library processes resources recommended for purchase.

  1. The library decides whether to purchase general resources or not considering the nature and content of the resources and the budget.
  2. Academic resources are purchased with the budget allocated to departments and institutes. Hence, the resources are transferred to the concerned department or institute for approval before the purchase. 。
  3. Newly-published local Chinese book resources arrive at the library within one to three weeks on average after making an order.
  4. Book resources from Mainland China, Japan and Korea arrive at the library within two to four months on average after making an order.
  5. Foreign language book resources arrive at the library within three to six months on average after making an order.

Q3. May I request the library to purchase books for me?

The library cannot purchase books for readers. However, the library can provide the distributor’s information to readers who need to make a purchase.

Q4. How can I recommend academic periodicals or databases?

The subscription and non-renewal of the University’s academic periodicals/databases are decided by the faculty of the concerned departments or institutes. As the budget is a main factor considered, faculty and students must obtain the confirmation of the departments or institutes for the subscription of academic periodicals or databases before submitting their order application to the library. The library will assess purchases based on the budget of the departments or graduate institutes. If there is any question or concern, the librarian will contact the relevant personnel of the departments or institutes for further confirmation.
