The Modern History Archive consists of 26 historic English newspapers published in China from 1832 to 1961, with about 80,000 issues. Being one of the most important documents recording the social development and changes of modern China, old newspapers are always part of the fundament of the literature and history research. This database is of considerable material value for promoting various disciplines research, including modern history, journalism history, economic history, religious history, anthropology, colonial studies, ethnic studies, Asian studies, Chinese studies, Japanese studies, history, political science, sociology, etc.
