Circulation

  1. There is a book which I did not borrow in my library account.
◇ Think again. Did you borrow the book on your friend's behalf?
◇ When checking out books, did you verify that the account name was yours?
◇ When checking out books, did you verify that all the books that you borrowed were shown on the screen?
We would like to remind you that when you check out books, both the reader and the library staff member must verify the library account to ensure its accuracy.

  2. How do I use the book's attachments such as diskettes, disks, and other software?
Readers can check from the collection catalogue to see if the library has the attachment (such as diskettes, disks, booklets, etc.) of a particular book. If the collection catalogue shows “XX book attachment”, it means that this is the attachment of a specific book stored at the check-out desk of XX Library. If you want to borrow the attachment, please proceed to the check-out desk of XX Library to check it out. After the attachment of the book has been checked out using the computer system, the attachment will be included in the number of volumes which the reader may borrow. The borrowing rules shall follow those for books.

  3. May I check out reference books?
Reference books are only for use only in the library. To afford greater convenience to our readers and to utilize resources fully, reference books may be checked out one hour before the library closes:
◇ Loan period: Reference materials may be checked out one hour before the library closes and must be returned within one hour after the library opens the next day. For late returns, each volume shall be charged NT$500 per hour.
◇ Reference materials may not be reserved nor may the load period be extended.
◇ The borrower shall check out the book in person with a valid ID. When entrusting another person to borrow the book, the Proxy Authorization Form must be completed and the library card of the borrower and identity documents of the proxy must be submitted.
◇ Borrowed materials must be returned to the library from which they were originally borrowed. You may not use a book-drop to return such materials or return them at other libraries.
For details, please refer to the Guidelines for Borrowing Reference Materials

  4. May I check out course reserve books?
Course reserve books are for use only in the library. Books shall not be checked out during the library hours of operation. To allow greater convenience for our readers and to utilize resources fully, unless otherwise stipulated by the faculty, books may be checked out one hour before the library closes and must be returned within one hour after the library opens the next day due to reader’s request. For late returns, each volume shall be charged NT$500 per hour.
For details, please refer to the Guidelines for Using Reserved Books.

  5. Why do some periodicals remain unbound?
Current periodical issues are not bound. The library will not bind periodicals related to leisure, fashion or of no academic reference value due to the consideration of budget and space limitations. The collection catalogue refers to unbound periodicals as “Only Current Issue Available.”
